What you are buying
You are buying places on an online course. A place is one person taking one course. You can buy places on several courses in one order. The price shown is the price you pay, in pounds sterling. Nothing is added at the checkout. We take card payments through Stripe.
Delivery
Delivery is immediate. When your payment goes through, your order page opens straight away and your places are ready to use. We email you the link to that page. Keep it, because it is the only way back in.
Your order page also gives you one join link. Send it to your staff. Each person types their name, takes a place and starts the course on their own phone, tablet or computer. A place is used when someone takes it.
You need a phone, tablet or computer with a web browser and an internet connection. Tests are marked on our server, so they do not work offline. Your places and links do not expire.
The test and the certificate
Every course has lessons and a test. The test is marked by our server. After a fail there is a wait before the next try, and after six tries in a row the lessons have to be read again, so that the certificate means something to the employer who relies on it.
A person who passes gets a certificate with its own number and a QR code. Anyone can scan the code, or type the number into the check page, to see whether the certificate is genuine. The certificate says who did the course, which course it was and the date. It is a record that the person completed the online course and passed the test, and an employer can keep it on file as evidence of the training given.
Some courses cover hands-on work. For those, the online course teaches the knowledge. For a health and safety course, the employer watches the person do the job on the employer's own equipment, assesses it and decides who is authorised. For a licensed premises course, the employer checks the items on the sheet at their own premises and decides who is authorised. We provide a sign-off sheet for the employer to complete.
A study pack gives a practice result. It does not issue a certificate.
The name on a certificate is the name the person typed when they took their place. Type it as you want it printed. If it is wrong, email us.
If an order is refunded in full, or the card payment is disputed with the bank, its places close, its certificates are withdrawn and the check page says VOID for them.
Access codes
An access code is a set of places we have given to you in advance. You enter it in the basket instead of paying. Each place comes off the code as it is used on an order.
Cancelling
If you are an individual buying for yourself, you have 14 days after the day you order to cancel without giving a reason. You lose that right once you have asked for your places to be available straight away and your order page has opened. At the basket you tick two boxes to say so before you order.
To cancel, email [email protected] and say so. You can use the model cancellation form in Schedule 3 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 at legislation.gov.uk, but you do not have to.
PHW Services will still refund any place nobody has taken, if you ask us.
Refunds
If nobody has taken a place, email us and we will refund it to the card you paid with. A place that someone has taken has been delivered. If the course did not work as described, tell us and we will put it right or refund it. Refunds are made through Stripe, the company that takes the card payment.
If you are an individual buying for yourself, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights if the course is faulty or is not as we described it. Nothing here limits them.
Health and safety at your workplace
Health and safety at your workplace stays the employer's responsibility. A course is one part of the training an employer arranges for its people.
Problems and complaints
Email [email protected] and say what happened. Please include your order reference, your order page address or your certificate number if you have one. We will reply within 10 working days.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also use the courts there.
